Smackdown Live - 7th May 2019

Opening Segment - AJ Styles comes out as part of this stupid wildcard rule and does his shtick, Sami Zayn cuts him off even though he died last night on RAW when Braun Strowman put him in a bin, AJ said he smelt, cool. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods then came out and Kofi mocked AJ for his house building shtick. A bit of nothingness happens and Kofi calls them both out pretty much for a WWE Championship match because hes a fighting champ. Dead start to the show.

Ali vs Andrade - we got a excellent video promo from Ali talking about the light leading the hands and fighting to get the opportunity he had ripped out of hands earlier in the year, everyone of these promos have been class and we need more of them. was really looking forward to this match, but we got about 2 minutes of action before and after a commercial break before Randy Orton interfered and caused a DQ. Alright, all 3 men are in the Money in the Bank match but at least give Ali and Andrade 15 minutes before doing this. Utterly pointless and didn't help anyone.

Shane McMahon comes out and talks about what happened last night and talks about how he will win at Money in the Bank, but the reason he was out there was to talk about the vacated Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships and he he is there to crown new Tag Team Champions, and just to drill home the lack of depth on the Tag Team Roster, it wasn't (arguably) a Tag Team, as he introduces Daniel Bryan and Rowan, but before Shane could give the titles, The Usos come out to question the decision and say that they've worked to hard to try and make Tag Wrestling relevant just for Shane to give them away. Great Promo from Usos here and Shane agrees to put the titles on the line before giving them away and he said he would enjoy when Bryan and Rowan smack their arses straight back to RAW.

Usos vs Daniel Bryan and Rowan for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships - Really good match, with a excellent near fall by Rowan after being hit with a long list of superkicks and then a Splash, the crowd were really into this aswell and the near fall helped that. The ending was great when Usos did a double suicide dive only to be caught by Rowan, chucking Jimmy Uso into a running knee from Daniel Bryan and then rolling Jey Uso into the ring. Jey hit a Super kick onto Rowan and then one to Bryan, who was on the apron, but it wasn't enough as Rowan countered it into a Iron Claw to pick up the victory and pick up the belts

Shane McMahon is still in the ring to make another announcement about the Money in the Bank matches but before he could say what he was going to say, The Miz comes out of the crowd and starts beating down Shane, but The B Team come out to Shanes aid and start beating on their former Miztourage leader. Then, steel chair in hand, Shane comes out from the back to the ramp and hits Miz with said chair and stands over his Money in the Bank opponent. I mean, its essentially a carbon copy of last night but I guess it plods the story line along.

Ember Moon & Carmella vs Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville - Short match, not much to say other than Mandy Rose pinned Ember Moon, which I didn't particularly like as Carmella would've been a better choice to eat the pin. Paige, Asuka and Kairi Sane come out and they issue a challenge for next weeks Smackdown Live to Mandy and Sonya.

We have a backstage interview with Matt Hardy, talking about Lars Sullivan but he is stopped by R-Truth who warns him of Lars. The interviewer runs away because Sullivan is behind both men. Hardy turned looked and went 'iTs HiM' in a really really awkward way, before Lars destroyed both men, putting R-Truth through a table

Kofi Kingston (c) vs AJ Styles vs Sami Zayn for the WWE Championship - Really really good match up between the 3, with all 3 men putting a shift in. Kevin Owens came out of the crowd to attack Xavier Woods on the outside and that distracted Kofi Kingston enough for Sami Zayn to hit not one, not two, but THREE Blue Thunder Bombs, but it wasn't enough as Kingston kicked out at 2, 2.5 and 2.9. With Kofi crawling to the corner, Sami set up for the Helluva kick but the WWE Champion countered it into a Trouble in Paradise to pick up the victory and retain his title.

Smackdown Live Rating - *** 1/4 - I was worried with the first hour being not to my taste and, in my opinion, being trash, but the 2nd hour saved it with those 2 great matches in the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship match and the WWE Championship triple threat.
